INTRODUCTION
One of many definitions of management is 'making the best use of human and material resources to achieve a defined aim'. This Section describes ways in which the achievement of quality in design may be fitted in to the larger management picture. It discusses the relationships between quality managers and line managers, the role of quality staff in the customer's and supplier's organizations and the application of these principles to the management of design.
