This Standard specifies requirements for the safe siting, design, construction, commissioning, operation, and decommissioning of facilities and associated equipment for the dry storage of irradiated fuel.
The requirements in this Standard apply to the site, fuel-handling facility, dry storage container, storage area, and support service structures, where applicable.
This Standard does not specify requirements for off-site transportation of irradiated fuel.
