scope:

This specification covers direct-reading tire pressure and inflator gages, calibrated in pounds per, square inch (p.s.i.).

Federal specifications do not include all varieties of the commodity indicated by the title of the specification, or which are commercially available, but are intended to cover only those generally used by the Federal Government.

Tire pressure and inflator gages covered by this specification shall be of the following types, classes, and styles as specified (see 6.2):

Type I - Precision gage. Type II - General service gage. Class A - Heavy duty. Styles: 1 - Short extension, single-chuck foot. 2 - Long extension, dual-chuck foot. Class B - Light duty, single-chuck foot. Styles: 1 - Low pressure. 2 - High pressure 3 - Low pressure, air-liquid. 4 - Extra low pressure. Type III - Inflator gage, internal indicating. Styles: 1 - Single-chuck foot. 2 - Dual-chuck foot. 3 - Dual-chuck foot, standard and large bore. Type IV - Inflator gage, external indicating. Styles: 1 - Single-chuck foot. 2 - Dual-chuck foot. 3 - Dual-chuck foot, standard and large bore.
