scope:

The aim of this agreement is to specify common criteria for the maintenance of geographic materials which NATO nations will apply to materials designated for use by NATO Forces in accordance with the NATO Geographic Policy (NGP). Common criteria are necessary to ensure that the currency and accuracy of geographic materials meet their intended military operational purpose. Maintenance criteria have not yet been developed for all geographic materials and therefore the products to which this edition of STANAG 7016 applies are necessarily limited to those specified in paragraph 4 below.
