Preface

In May 1987 the Quality Assurance Section of Ontario Hydro's Supply Division published A General Guide on Procurement Quality Assurance Standards and Organizations. This guide was designed for use within Ontario Hydro. Its aim was to provide a broad understanding of the requirements of the CSA Z299 Standards, the events that led to their adoption by Ontario Hydro, and their relationship to other commonly used military, national, and governmental Standards. It also provided a summary of nuclear Quality Assurance requirements and of the activities carried out by various Quality Assurance organizations.

Ontario Hydro v/as subsequently approached by the Canadian Standards Association to publish this guide as a CSA Plus Product. Minor modifications were made to remove some references to Ontario Hydro's internal operating methods. The document was then reviewed by the Executive Committee of the CSA Technical Committee on Quality Program Standards. The result is this CSA Plus Product.
