This appendix covers the requirements and quality conformance provisions for loading of M864 projectiles with M42/M46 grenade cargoes downloaded from surplus M483A1 projectiles. In addition, this appendix covers the qualification testing of sampled M42/M46 grenades downloaded from surplus M483A1 projectile lots.

The download/reload method shall serve to replace the typical grenade layer by layer loading operation in the M864 LAP sequence. Elimination of the latter operation will reduce the amount of inspection (See para. 40.1); however, inspections that pertain to the projectile subassembly, base burner assembly, and complete round still remain.
