The aim of this agreement is to standardize, for the use of the NATO Armed Forces, the essential characteristics of 5.56 mm ammunition types, linked or not, capable of use in both individual and light support weapons, used by the Armed Forces of NATO, to ensure interchangeability on the battlefield.
