This specification covers a Telephone Set TA-263( )/PT, a portable telephone arranged to prevent interference between the telephone and the carrier channels when used by linemen on open wire carrier lines. The equipment consists of a filter assembly attached to Telephone Set TA-43( )/PT; two whistles, one of 1000 cycles per second (c.p.s.) interrupted at the rate of 20 c.p.s., the other of 1600 c.p.s. ; and a carrying case. The filter assembly includes a low-pass filter, two resistors, an impedance switch, and four binding posts. The whistles provide voice-frequency signalling over carrier lines from the telephone to the carrier terminals or repeaters.
