This CID covers electric motor-powered vertical tank type vacuum cleaners for commercial and industrial use. The type I cleaners are for dry pickup only. The type 11 cleaners are for wet or dry pickup. The type III cleaners are designated explosion proof far use in NFPA 70 defined class 1, group D and class II, group C atmospheres and are for wet or dry pickup. The cleaners shall be designed to operate on a single phase power source of either 120 volts ac, 60 Hz, or 220 volts ac, 50 Hz as specified (see 7.2).
