Description.

Oleic acid, special, lead free, is supplied as a light brown liquid. Mixed in various proportions with Resin, run congo copal, and Methylcyclohexanyl phthalate, it forms the liquid component of several two-pack chemically setting cements. The other component of the cements is solid, and consists of magnesium oxide, extended with barytes or kaolin. The setting of the mixed cement is mainly due to the reaction between the oleic acid and the magnesium oxide, initiated by a small amount of water incorporated in the liquid component.
