This Defence Standard states material, equipment, manufacturing and quality requirements for arc welding of ferrous armour used in the construction of armoured fabrications.

All such welding shall be carried out in accordance with the requirements of this Defence Standard.

Non armour ferrous material shall be welded to "best practice". Guidance is given in BS 5135 and BS 7475. Weld procedure specifications shall be produced and qualified in accordance with BS EN 288-3, BS EN 288-6 or BS EN 288-8.
