This NES details the erquirements for thixotropic unsaturated isophthalic polyester resins for use with fibre reinforcement for the production of GRP laminates for ship structures. The materials currently approved are specified in Annex H.
The two resins designated standard (S) and low viscosity (LV) provide similar laminate properties when used comparable conditions. The low viscosity resins are for the production of large flat or nearly flat panels. The grade of resins to be supplied will be stated in the contract or order.
DEtails of the catalyst and accelerator to be used in association with the resin are specified in Annex C.
