PURPOSE AND SCOPE. This document provides guidance for the design and construction of conventionally reinforced ribbed mat slab (RRMS) foundation systems. For the purpose of this document, RRMS is defined as a system of stiffening beams and slab constructed of conventionally reinforced cast-in-place concrete to perform monolithically.

APPLICABILITY. These instructions are applicable to all USACE elements and their contractors responsible for design and construction of RRMS foundation systems.
