Purpose
To provide general information about the supervision and management of the Navy's claims program and the processing of claims under various Federal claims statutes. For admiralty claims, see Chapter XII of reference (a).
To supplement the provisions of reference (a) concerning the investigation of incidents giving rise to claims for or against the United States. For information and guidance in conducting an investigation of an incident or event likely to result in claims or civil litigation against or for the Department of the Navy (DON) or the United States, see Chapter II of reference (a).
To provide, in the enclosures, detailed explanations of the procedures for adjudicating claims filed under the various claims statutes. See Enclosures (1) - (7).
