Seamless copper tube covered by this specification is intended for general use aboard ship with flanges and soldered, brazed, or flared fittings when straight and not threaded. When bending or threading is required, tubes with adequate wall thickness should be specified.

For other than ship use, seamlem copper tube is intended for use with soldered, brazed, or flared type fittings for plumbing, heating, and other work with pressure up to 250 pounds per square inch. Copper water tube is described in Federal Specification WW-T-799. Copper refrigeration tube is covered by Federal Specification WW-T-775 and copper pipe is described in Federal Specification WW-P-377.
