PREFACE

This glossary is compiled by direction of the Combat Engineer Working Party with the approval of the Army Board, Military Agency for Standardization in accordance with Part 1 of AAP-6(P). Its purpose is to standardise engineer terminology used throughout NATO, thereby promoting mutual understanding. The definitions contained herein reflect current NATO use and do not modify or establish NATO policy and doctrine.

The glossary is published ion the two official languages of NATO, English and French.

The Concise Oxford Dictionary (Seventh Edition) is the reference source for English in AAP-19. Le Petit Robert, Dictionnaire alphabetique et analogique de la langue francaise (Edition 1982) is the reference source for French in AAP-19.
