The laminated shim stock covered by this specification is intended for use in the manufacture of laminated shims, which can be used in assemblies to provide adjustment of fits and alignment of component parts of the assembly by peeling off one or more laminations. Caution is advised in the use of excessive thickness, particularly at elevated temperatures, because of the possibility of loss of bolt preload. Selection of shims intended for use with, or between, dissimilar materials must include consideration of galvanic corrosion.
