This commercial item description (CID) covers one type of dichlorvos (DDVP) insecticide strip for the control of flies, mosquitoes, gnats, and other small flying insects in enclosed spaces, semi-enclosed spaces, garbage cans, and catch basins. Dichlorvos is chemically known as 2,2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate. The strip is not to be used in hospital or clinic rooms; areas where infants, the ill, or the aged will be present for extended periods of time; or kitchens, restaurants, and places where food is stored, prepared, or served.
