scope:
This regulation prescribes the Total Army Sponsorship Program (Active Army, civilian employees, and Reserve Components (RCs)). It provides principles of support, standards of service, policies, functions, and tasks governing the program. A system is provided to help commanders exercise their basic responsibility to assist soldiers, civilian employees, and families successfully relocate into and out of their commands. Sponsorship is a commander's program in which commanders and individual sponsors are key to success.
Applicability. This regulation applies to the Active Army, the Army National Guard of the United States (ARNGUS), and the U.S. Army Reserve (USAR). It also applies to Department of the Army and non-Department of the Army civilian employees whose assignment to a position within the Department of the Army requires a permanent change of station move. During mobilization, the requirements of this regulation are limited. However, there is a requirement to ensure that rear detachment sponsorship is provided to family members during deployment of soldier or civilian employee sponsor.
