(Footnote *) This standard specifies requirements for the design of and the design verification tests for fire department ground ladders. The tests specified herein shall be the responsibility of ladder manufacturers only and shall not be performed by fire departments.
(Footnote *) This standard shall apply to all new ground ladders intended for use by fire department personnel for rescue, fire-fighting operations, and training. These ladders shall not be used for any other purpose.
(Footnote *)Purpose. This standard shall provide the manufacturer of fire department ground ladders with a set of performance requirements against which ladders shall be certified. It is not the purpose of this standard to specify the details of construction. The limitations imposed are for the purpose of providing reasonable safety requirements and establishing test methods.
