scope:
This specification covers the M139, M140, M139A1, M140A1 and M154 Alignment Devices which provide a close-in optical reference to check the boresight of the fire control at the weapon site. They each have an illuminated reticle.
Classification. The Alignment Device is used to provide an on-carriage optical reference to periodically check the boresight setting of the fire control and there are the following types:
M139. This Alignment Device is intended to support the M198 Howitzer. and uses tritium.
M139A1. This Alignment Device is intended to support the M198 Howitzer and does not use tritium.
M140. This Alignment Device is intended to support the M119A1 Howitzer and M109 Howitzer Series and uses tritium.
M154. This Alignment Device is intended to support the M777 Howitzer Series and does not use tritium.. This Alignment Device is intended to support the M119A2 Howitzer and M109 Howitzer Series and does not use tritium.
M154. This Alignment Device is intended to support the M777 Howitzer Series and does not use tritium.
intended Use:
The Alignment Device is used to provide an on-carriage optical reference to periodically check the boresight setting of the fire control.
