The hose assembly covered by this specification is intended for use as a component of high-pressure pneumatic ground support equipment used in aircraft ground servicing and engine starting applications. The hose assembly is military unique because it must have a minimum tensile strength of 1,000 pounds (453.59 kg) and must be able to be flexed through 180° at a specified bend radius at a temperature or -65°F (-53.89°C). Commercial hoses do not have these requirements and would experience catastrophic damage. (DO NOT USE FOR OXYGEN.)
