scope:

This standard establishes a list for the selection of splices, terminals, terminal boards, binding posts, terminal junction systems, and wire caps designated as preferred for use in new design of military equipment. Complete detail requirements for splices, terminals, terminal boards, binding posts, terminal junction systems and wire caps listed in this standard are covered in the applicable military document listed herein.

This standard is designed to serve the following purposes.

(a) To provide the equipment designer with a list of conductor splices, lug terminals, feedthru terminals, stud terminals, terminal boards, binding posts, terminal junction systems and wire caps considered by the military departments to be preferred for military applications.

(b) To control and minimize the variety and types of conductor splice, terminals, terminal boards, binding posts, terminal junction systems and wire caps, used in military equipment in order to facilitate effective logistic support of equipment in the field, and to maximize economic support of production of the types listed in this standard.
