1. SCOPE

This specification covers the requirements for an interior, waterborne or solvent borne, lacquer paint system which is applied over Polyvinyl Chloride plastic parts. 1.1 The extended durability testing in this specification is required for corporate approval of a new interior paint product. Once corporate approval is given, routine testing of the paint as it is used on parts shall be covered by DX650059. 1.2 Paint systems which have been approved on plastics require validation on parts to be fully approved and included in the Approved Paint on Parts Systems (Delphi-I APOPS) database. NOTE: If parts are fabricated from prepainted material, the paint film shall be capable of withstanding all the necessary fabrication processes, including forming temperatures, in addition to specified requirements as detailed below without any detrimental appearance or performance changes.
