1. Scope

1.1 The test method covers the determination of the unsaturation in organic compounds containing vinyl groups or double bonds at the end of carbon chains, and some cis forms of unsaturation.

NOTE 1--Other methods for the determination of unsaturation are given in ASTM Methods E 234, Test for Total Bromine Number of Unsaturated Aliphatic Chemicals, D 2849, Testing Urethane Foam Polyol Raw Material, and Method D 3124, Test for Vinylidene Unsaturation in Polyethylene by Infrared Spectrophotometry.

1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems associated with its use.
