scope:
This Part of the Defence Standard specifies the minimum MOD requirements for electrical connectors, primarily intended for use on Field Power Applications.
The specification replaces the production drawing package against which all components have been produced to date. Connectors produced by either method are to be completely intermateable.
This Part of the Defence Standard details the general requirements, test methods and requirements and additional requirements on electrical connectors for MOD use.
The connectors are an all-insulated robust type with three 13 Amp contacts conforming to BS 1363 and coarse ribbed coupling nuts. The design provides barrier and panel sealing, M 3.5 x 0.6 stud terminals and back end fittings capable of accommodating circular, covered three-core cable up to 2.5 sq mm cross-sectional area.
The outer housing (shell) has a standard colour finish of olive green drab to BS 381C. Should this conflict with the process or material selected then a neutral colour such as black is acceptable.
Table I lists the standard range of connectors to be used where sealed connectors are required in all future designs of equipment. There are no table II items.
