ETSI - TS 101 674-1

Technical Framework for the Provision of Interoperable ATM Services NNI-Interface; User and Control Plane Specification (Including Network Functions and Service Aspects) Phase 1

inactive
Organization: ETSI
Publication Date: 1 October 1999
Status: inactive
Page Count: 26
scope:

The present document is part of a set of specifications (see TR 101 673 [47]) defining the network-to-network interface to enable service interoperability between ATM networks. These documents specify an interface for the transfer of user information and connection control for interoperable ATM services. This interface, for which hereafter the term "NNI.easi interface" will be used, allows for the interconnection of ATM networks in order to provide ATM based services also across network boundaries.

Currently two possibilities have been identified concerning the realization of the control plane of the NNI.easi interface, dependent on the protocols used internally in the individual networks:

a) interoperability on the basis of B-ISUP functionality using the B-ISUP protocol;

b) interoperability on the basis of the functionality defined in ATMF AINI AF-CS-0125.000 [51], where the interconnected networks may run B-ISUP or PNNI protocols internally.

The specification of the NNI.easi interface will take place in two Phases:

• Phase 1 describes case a) in an initial version;

• Phase 2 will provide an enhanced description of case a), and, in addition, a description of case b).

The present document describes the NNI.easi interface for Phase 1.

For this purpose, the present document covers the following areas:

• a description of some aspects of the network architecture;

• the definition of the interface with regard to the user and the control plane;

• the Quality of Service and performance objectives; and

• the ATM transfer capabilities at the NNI.easi interface.
