scope:

This Standard covers automatic transfer switches for use in non-hazardous locations in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, to provide switching of electrical energy in emergency or other systems and with maximum ratings of 600 volts nominal and 4000 amperes.

Transfer switches covered by this Standard may employ solid-state devices only in control circuits.

This Standard does not apply to switches used in equipment manufactured in accordance with CSA Standard C22.2 No. 141, Unit Equipment for Emergency Lighting.
