Organization: MODUK
Publication Date: 1 April 2000
Status: inactive
Page Count: 68
scope:

This Naval Engineering Standard (NESI covers the aspects of safety applicable to the Design of Electrotechnical and Naval Weapon Equipment. It does not address explosive or ordnance stores safely.

As well as indicating safety requirements necessary for sound design, this standard includes effective safety measures for equipment and associated personnel. For each application, these should be combined, using JSP 430 for guidance, in order to demonstrate that the risks have been minimised i.e. reduced to as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP).

It should be used in conjunction with DEF STAN 00-10 and NES 501. Where contradictions occur, the requirements of this NES are to take precedence. All references to the Project Manager are to be read in conjunction with SSP 30 and the Chief of Defence Procurement Instructions (CDPIs).
