Purpose

The Schedule sets out the steels used for Defence productions. Part I summarises the main characteristics of wrought steels and provides a commentary intended to indicate the typical applications of the various steels; it is not intended to be a substitute for looking at the full details of the latest issue of the relevent specification; it is not a substitute for expert advice; and it is not in any way a warrant for substituting another steel or specification for the one stipulated by the designer.

This separate document, DG-6, Part II, provides information on the weldability of the steels. Another document, DG-6 Part III, gives information in respect of steel castings used for Defence production.
