The standard specifies the test methods to be used for testing p olymeric insulating and sheathing materials of electric cables f or power distribution and telecommunications including cables us ed on ships. - This section 3 of part 1 gives the methods for de termining the density, water absorption tests and shrinkage test which apply to the most common types of insulating and sheathin g compounds (elastomeric, PVC, PE, PP etc.).
