scope:
This specification covers the general requirements for tactical generator sets (hereinafter referred to as "set" or "sets") from 15 kilowatts (kW) thru 200 kW, 50/60 Hertz (Hz) and 400 Hz, alternating current (ac), skidmounted, diesel engine driven, liquid-cooled.
The sets shall be Type I (Tactical) and of the following Classes, Modes, and Sizes as specified on the applicable detail specification (see 3.1 and 6.2):
Class 1 - Precise. Class 2 - Utility. Mode I - 50/60 Hz. Mode II - 400 Hz (Class 1 only). Size 15 - 15 kW at 60 Hz (12.5 kW at 50 Hz). Size 30 - 30 kW at 60 Hz (25 kW at 50 Hz). Size 60 - 60 kW at 60 Hz (50 kW at 50 Hz). Size 100 - 100 kW at 60 Hz (83.3 kW at 50 Hz). Size 200 - 200 kW at 60 Hz (167 kW at 50 Hz).

The generator sets shall be rated 0.8 power factor (pf), lagging, and shall be reconnectable for the following voltage ratings:
(a) 3 phase, 4-wire, 240 volts line-to-neutral and 416 volts line-to-line (240/416 volts).
(b) 3 phase, 4 wire, 120 volts line-to-neutral and 208 volts line-to-line (120/208 volts).
intended Use:
The sets are intended to supply power for multipurpose use in military application. The general characteristics of the sets are described in MIL-STD-633 and MIL-STD-1332.
