REISSUANCE AND PURPOSE

This Directive reissues reference (a) to update policy and responsibilities for the acquisition of DoD Mobile Electric Power (MEP) generating sources, and establishes the position of the DoD Project Manager for MEP (PM-MEP).

APPLICABILITY AND SCOPE

This Directive:

Applies to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Military Departments, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities in the Department of Defense (hereafter referred to collectively as the "DoD Components").

Does not cover fixed-electric power generating sources, as defined in paragraph 3.1., below.

Covers MEP generating sources that fall within the parameters of DoD standard family ratings, as shown in enclosure 2.
