Preface
This is the first edition of the CAN/CSA-A22O Series Concrete Roof Tiles, and it is written in SI (metric) units. This Series comprises three Standards: CAN/CSA-A220.0, CAN/CSA-A220.1 , and CAN/CSA-A220.2.
CAN/CSA-A220.0-M91, Performance of Concrete Roof Titles, establishes the minimum requirements for concrete roof tile and tiling accessories based on the results of performance tests. The Standard includes procedures and acceptance criteria for sampling and testing for dimensional tolerances, water absorption, water permeability, freezing and thawing resistance, transverse strength, and material quality.
CAN/CSA-A220.1-M91, Installation of Concrete Roof Tiles, provides requirements for the installation of concrete roof tiles and tiling accessories on roofs with slopes of 1 :3 and greater and includes minimum requirements for installation of the sheathing and underlayment under the tiles and the related measures to provide a weather-resistant roofing system. Requirements are also given for testing of underlayment for this application.
CAN/CSA-A220.2-M9 1 , Plant Certification for Manufacturers of Concrete Roof Tiles, provides the requirements for the certification of manufacturers of concrete roof tiles. This Series of Standards was prepared by the Technical Committee on Concrete Roof Tiles under the jurisdiction of the Standards Steering Committee on Concrete and was approved by these Committees. It has been approved as a National Standard of Canada by the Standards Council of Canada.
We gratefully acknowledge the permission of ICBO Evaluation Service Inc, Whittier, CA, USA, to use their document, Acceptance Criteria for Concrete Tile Underlayment on Spaced Sheathing (published in January 1989).
