REISSUANCE AND PURPOSE

This Directive:

Reissues reference (a).

Implements reference (b).

Prescribes procedures for compiling and submitting the National Guard and Reserve Equipment Report (NGRER) to the Congress on Reserve component (RC) equipment, as required by reference (b). In addition, this Directive reiterates policy and assigns responsibilities associated with equipping the Reserve components.

APPLICABILITY. This Directive applies to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and the Military Departments (including the National Guard) and the Coast Guard when it is not operating as a Service in the Department of the Navy under agreement with the Secretary of Homeland Security. The term "Military Services," as used herein, refers to the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Marine Corps, and the Coast Guard.
