1. SCOPE
1.This specification covers the basic requirements for a corrosion resistant protective coating produced by the dip spin application method and consists of an inorganic aluminum filled basecoat. The coating may be specified with basecoat only (DX550509, DX550510) or followed by an organic (DX550501, DX550502, DX550503, DX550504) or inorganic topcoat (DX550505, DX550506, DX550507, DX550508). The basecoat is a water dilutable aluminum filled chromate phosphate compound which requires an oven baking cycle to produce cure. The topcoat is one of two types, either a fluorocarbon modified silicone type when service temperatures are not expected to exceed 230° C or an inorganic chromate phosphate topcoat for applications where temperatures exceed 230° C and may approach 645° C.
