This standard specifies a system for establishing communication between audiovisual terminals using digital channels up to 2048 kbit/s, when connected by the pan-European Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) as provided by European public telecommunications operators, or by any other digital telecommunications network.
This standard will be used in conjunction with a framing structure for audio visual teleservices specified in prETS 300 144 [3].
A separate standard specifies the method of testing required to identify conformance to this standard in conjunction with prETS 300 144 ]3] and prETS 300 146 [1].
This standard is applicable to terminal equipment and other equipment (e.g., interworking units, multipoint conference units) supporting audiovisual teleservices.
