scope:
This specification covers lubricating and pumping units, air, electric-motor, and battery powered, for dispensing and transferring general purpose, fibrous, heavy- and light-bodied lubricants from standard open- and closed-top containers for maintenance of trucks and field equipment.
Federal specifications do not include all types, classes, sizes, and styles of lubricating units indicated by the title of the specification, or which are commercially available, but are intended to cover only those types, classes, sizes, and styles which are suitable for Federal Government requirements.
The lubricating and pumping units shall be of the following types, classes, sizes, and styles as specified (see 6.2):
Type I - Lubricating unit, air pressure operated (with container cover). Class A - High-pressure grease (40 to 1 ratio, minimum). Size 1 - 25-pound container. Size 2 - 35-pound container. Size 4 - 60-pound container. Style a - Dolly or chassis mounted. Style b - Truck mounted.

Class B - Low-pressure gear oil (2-to-1 to 8-to-1 ratio range).
Size 3 - 40-pound container.

Class C - High-pressure, high volume.
Size 6 - 400-pound container.
