1. Scope

1.1 This test method covers the procedure for the performance of constant amplitude axial and bending fatigue tests to obtain the high cycle fatigue strength of porous-coated metallic materials. This includes testing uncoated substrate materials to act as a reference from which the effect of the porous coating may be compared. This test method is limited to the fatigue testing of axial, bending, and rotating beam specimens in air at room temperature. This test method is not intended for application in fatigue tests of components or parts; however, the method which most closely replicates the actual loading configuration is preferred.

1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard.
