Organization: | EEMUA |
Publication Date: | 1 January 1994 |
Status: | inactive |
Page Count: | 72 |
scope:
This document describes many of the key features of the design of storage tanks, the common problems that are found to arise in in-service operation and identifies many of the actions that may be taken to avoid their occurrence or remedy their defects.
Implications for inspection are described with information on appropriate techniques to be used, time intervals for inspection and limits that define when a tank may remain in service or when repairs are required.
Guidance is given on sources of additional information that will assist both continued operation and inspection.
Two main groups of tanks are covered:
Atmospheric storage tanks for oil and chemical products
Refrigerated storage tanks for liquefied gases.
Each type of tank is addressed separately and inspection check lists are provided for both.
