General
Terminology used in Sections 3 and 4 is as follows:
• "FDCCH Indication primitive received containing a PCH message" refers to PCH messages that are delivered on the mobile station's allocated PCH Subchannel. The possible layer 3 messages that can be delivered on this PCH Subchannel are specified in Section 5.3. In addition, Hard pages (see TIA/EIA-136-122) are considered to be PCH messages.
• "FDCCH Indication primitive received containing an ARCH message" refers to ARCH messages that are delivered on the ARCH subchannel. The possible layer 3 messages that can be delivered on this subchannel are specified in Section 5.3.
• "FDCCH Indication primitive received containing an SMSCH message" refers to SMSCH messages that are delivered on the SMSCH subchannel. The possible layer 3 messages that can be delivered on this subchannel are specified in Section 5.3.
• "FDCCH Indication primitive received containing a BCCH message" refers to messages that are delivered on the F-BCCH, E-BCCH and S-BCCH channels. The possible layer 3 messages that can be delivered on these channels are specified in Section 5.1.
• "Layer 2 Access Success Indication" indicates that the requested layer 3 message(s) have been successfully transmitted on the RACH (See TIA/EIA-136-122).
• "Layer 2 Access Failure Indication" indicates that the requested layer 3 message(s) have not been transmitted on the RACH due to an Access Failure (See TIA/EIA-136-122).
