and Application The test methods defined in this document are designed to evaluate the "fogging"tendencies of trim materials used for interior automobile applications. The volatile organic constituents, liberated under conditions of high ambient temperatures and subsequently deposited on cooler glass surfaces, shall be determined. Two alternative test methods are specified with differing methods of evaluating the degree of fogging. Test results obtained by these differing test methods are not directly comparable and only that test method specified by the appropriate coding in the material specification, engineering drawing etc., shall be used. Method A (coding A) determined the mass of fogging condensate on aluminium foil by means weighing of foil before and after the fogging test. Method B (coding B) evaluates the volatility of organic constituents by reflectivity measurements.
