This specification outlines the general design, performance and test requirements for self-contained portable, mobile, or transportable ground generating sets up to 300 kW rating, d.c. or a.c., powered by spark ignition or compression ignition engines.

For the purpose of development or production contracts each type and rating of generating set will be covered by a supplementary specification, which will detail the particular requirements and will invoke the relevant clauses of this specification. In the event of any conflict between this specification and the supplementary specification, the latter shall prevail.
