PURPOSE.

This notice provides guidance for all principal inspectors (PI) and other assigned aviation safety inspectors (ASI) on revisions to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Order 8400.10, Air Transportation Operations Inspector's Handbook. The sections listed in paragraph 5 below have been rewritten and updated. Of particular note is chapter 2, section 7, which outlines new policy and guidance that effectively transfers the evaluation and concurrence of principal operations inspector (POI) approvals of operators' instrument landing system (ILS) Category II/III programs from the Flight Technologies Procedures Division, AFS-400, to the Regional Flight Standards Divisions (RFSD).
