This specification covers requirements designed to insure the timely completion and flow of provisioning technical documentation (PTD) for all provisionable shipboard mechanical and electrical equipments and components.
This specification delineates the responsibilities of both industry and the Navy in the fulfillment of the requirements indicated; provides guidelines for establishing key action milestones; prescribes procedures for monitoring the completion and flow of all required provisioning technical documentation; encompasses instructions and procedures for the development and dissemination of schedules and reports and; provides instructions with regard to the use of the schedules and reports for implementing this specification and taking necessary corrective action.
This specification applies to all private and Navy shipbuilder furnished mechanical find electrical equipment required by:
(a) New construction contracts - Those contracts which specify that the delivery date of the ship, or first ship of multiple identical ship contracts, will be at least 24 month after the date of the contract.
(b) Conversion or overhaul contracts.- Those contracts which specify that the delivery/completion date of the ship, or first ship of multiple identical ship contracts, will be at least 12 months after the date of the contract.
