scope:

This QTR states the requirements for quality/inspection control to be applied to certain steel parts which are to be ground during manufacture. It is applicable to those parts which are regarded as critical or important by the appropriate Design Authority (eg AvP970 Class 1 & Class 2 parts), and to such other parts as may be specified by the Design Authority. The inspection for abusive grinding may also reveal cracks, but is not to be regarded as a substitute for those inspection processes designed specifically for the detection of cracks and other discontinuities.
