scope:
This specification defines the equipment to be provided as a replacement of the existing voice frequency signaling and control equipment (tone) utilized.in voice radio air/ground Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Flight Service Stations (FSS) operations. The new radio control equipment (RCE) will have the capability to be installed at en route, terminal and FSS control facilities and their associated air/ground radio sites on a channel by channel basis, provide ability to interface with Remote Maintenance Monitoring (RMM) sensors at radio sites, and provide Remote Monitoring Subsystem (RMS) capability. At the remote air/ground radio sites where air/ground radio communications are provided, the RCE channel will interface with existing solid state radio transmitters and receivers, and the transmission facilities which connect these sites to the control facility. At the control facilities the RCE channel will interface with transmission facilities, existing relay panels and patch panels associated with four channel equipment installed in en route and terminal facilities, the Integrated Communications Switching System (ICSS) installed in terminal and Automated Flight Service Station (AFSS) facilities, and the Voice Switching and Control System (VSCS) which will later replace the four channel equipment and existing 300 and 301 type switching systems.
