scope:
This specification covers the requirements for surface treatments for metal surfaces of aircraft airframes and parts prior to application of primer and paint coatings, and also where primer and paint are not required. This specification applies only to fuselages, wings, cowlings, struts, empennage, floats, etc., and not to Government furnished or contractor purchased equipment, such as propellers, power plants, and engines; and not to standard accessories, such as electric motors, generators, instruments, switches, rheostats, relays, valves, pumps, and similar parts, unless this specification is speicifically prescribed in the pertinent equipment or accessory specification or drawing.
Should any conflict exist between the requirements of the contract, the detail specifications, and this specification, the requirements of the contract, the detail specifications, and this specification shall take precedence in the order named.
