scope:

The purpose of this Standard is to provide dimensional characteristics of the endless loop tape cartridge in order to permit interchangcability of cartridges of thesame type. The Standard is dimensional in character and is not intended to indicate quality or performance levels.

This Standard conforms to. the major technical contents of the International Electrotechnical Comp mission (IEC) Recommendation 94-B( 1974) Second Supplement to Publication 94 (1968) ('Eight Track Endless Loop Magnetic Tape Cartridge ilimensions and Characteristics". It differs from IEC Recommendation 94-B in certain important respects as given in Appendix A of this Standard. These differences have been reported to the US Committee of Experts for IEC Technical Committee 60A (Audio Tape Recording).

This Standard reflects current practices in cartridges and players m the USA where this aystem originated.
