General. This Standard covers uncoated stress-relieved and low-relaxation smooth round wire, uncoated seven-wire stress-relieved and lowrelaxation strand, and high-strength stress-relieved alloy steel bars used in prestressed concrete construction. All requirements are applicable to such wire, strand, and bars unless specifically stated otherwise.

Strand. This Standard covers seven-wire, uncoated, stress-relieved and low-relaxation steel strand for use in pre-tensioned and post-tensioned prestressed concrete construction. The use of quenched and tempered wire shall not be permitted.
Bars. This Standard covers plain or deformed high-tensile strength alloy bars having a nominal diameter greater than 9 mm. The use of quenched and tempered bars shall not be permitted. Supplementary requirements of an optional nature are provided and they shall apply only when specified by the purchaser.
